Progress Isn’t Always Visible

When you plant the seed that eventually becomes a tree, you will need to dig a hole to place the seed in, which you then cover with dirt. After that, the initial process of growing it will be invisible, requiring a stretch of faith.

In order for the tree to grow, it needs a steady source of sunshine and water. It won’t break ground on the first day, or the second, or even the third. So if you base your decision on whether or not to continue watering and shining the sun on how immediate and visible its growth is, it may never sprout.

But if you trust in the process and continue to show up with both light and water, eventually it breaks ground. And although it takes years, the sprout grows from barely below your ankle to a tree towering over your head.

The results you seek to create are much like growing trees. The desired end result won’t happen overnight. It may not even happen by next week. But that doesn’t mean you should stop showing up to water or shine the sun on it.

As long as you keep showing up to do the work, progress is underway whether you can see it or not.
